TORONTO, ON — February 7, 2020 — AlayaCare, an award-winning technology platform for home and community care providers, announced today the acquisition of Arrow Solutions, a New York-based software company that has served the personal care services community since 2003. This announcement comes before the ink has dried on the Toronto-based company's acquisition of the Procura software product from Complia Health a month ago (see "AlayaCare Acquires Procura and ANZ from Complia Health", Rowan Report, 1/3/20).
We spoke with AlayaCare's founder and CEO, Adrian Schauer, on Thursday.
"The acquisition of Arrow Solutions is the cornerstone of our expansion into the US Medicaid market and beyond," Schauer told us. "It presents tremendous opportunity for us to scale our expansion in the U.S. market. New York is one of the most complex and highly regulated states in the U.S. home care industry and the acquisition of Arrow Solutions enhances our ability to scale our technology to a level that can scale with any shifting landscape."
He explained that adapting a home care software system for the complex New York regulatory environment presents unique challenges. "Some vendors decide to not even try," he laughed. "That is why we are getting such an advantage by bringing Arrow's years of experience on board. They know New York. They emerged from a successful New York home care agency and started life with that expertise already in place."
Schauer said it is too early to reveal his detailed plans for the Arrow software platform but he did indicated a first step will be to attach AlayaCare's mobile point-of-care piece to Arrow's system. "They have an excellent product, full of bells and whistles customized for New York," Schauer told us, "but their mobile component is not as strong. Their customers will get to implement ours very soon."
Arrow Solutions was founded by owners of VIP Health Care Services, a Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) serving the New York City area. The software solution was developed in-house and spun off as a separate company in 2003. Last June, VIP was acquired by Addus HomeCare Corporation. One of Arrow's co-founders, Michael Appel, is the son of VIP's founder. He has overseen the company's expansion into 10 additional states.
"We are thrilled about entering into a new chapter with AlayaCare, with whom we share a unified commitment to provide clients with the best technology for better patient outcomes," said Arrow Solutions CEO Appel. "Together, we will be able to offer our customers a robust solution and expand our capabilities in the growing U.S. market."
Schauer told us this acquisition gives his company the ability to "learn NY." He said, "The Arrow Solutions team brings decades of in-depth industry knowledge and software development experience to the table. Arrow Solutions' mission to make the complex simple so that agencies can focus on serving their patients perfectly aligns with AlayaCare's vision of being the world's most trusted home care technology. We're excited to welcome their team and customers to the AlayaCare family."
