Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

After several weeks of multiple issues per week, we are giving everyone this week off...sort of. There is still so much news coming at us around the pandemic issue, relevant to all of our readers, we did not want to make you wait a week to see it. Private duty home care, hospice, and Medicare home health providers will want to pay close attention to this week's reports.

Our friends at Honor wrote a helpful blog for their partners – non-medical home care agencies – detailing coronavirus considerations. Thanks to them for giving us permission to republish it for you.

CMS has been releasing news almost every day. The most important announcement this week is for those who accepted their advance payments. Spoiler alert, you don't have to pay it back as quickly. We also have login information for CMS's weekly update phone calls specifically for home health and hospice providers.

Guest author Elizabeth Hogue, Esq. argues that more people should be at home instead of in the hospital or a skilled nursing facility. She bases her case on what she learned from her favorite television show.

Lastly, a teaser for a story we are working on for next week. We sent a question to CMS to ask why home health was excluded from a new rule expanding the use of telehealth to address the pandemic. We will let you know what they have to say. In the meantime, click here for a summary of the rule.
