Volume 9, Number 46 May  13, 2020

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

We welcome our newest sponsor this week with a product review of a communications, electronic signatures, and video visit tool that impressed us during an in-depth demonstration. You will be hearing more about Citus Health as the company introduces its solution into the home health, hospice, and home care arena. It has features that will support functions of Medicare and non-medical providers. Click on their new ad on this page and scroll down further to read "Citus Health Debuts in Post-Acute Care With Multi-Function App."

Coincidentally, another entrepreneur with home care experience has developed an app to help families communicate with each other about and with an elder or elder couple living alone. Read our report on the new app called Avanlee, "Product Review: A Family Communications App," and see if it is something you might recommend to your home care clients and their families. Sometimes, just knowing how they are doing creates peace of mind.

As part of its "Year of the Nurse and Midwife" celebration, the American Nurses Association announced it will expand National Nurses Week, traditionally celebrated from May 6 to May 12 each year, to a month-long celebration. This week's guest author helps us join the celebration. Read Kristen Kubilus' interview with Louise Weadock, the Founder and Chief Nursing Officer of ACCESS Nursing. It is the first in Ms. Kubilus' series, "Extraordinary Women in Homecare."

Sales and Marketing During Social Distancing

Staff reporter Darcey Trescone interviewed Teresa Buglione, Director of Services for Trella Health, a data analysis company, to get some pointers on how to leverage technology to continue marketing when in-person meetings are not possible.

Lastly, it appears PC maker Lenovo is making its presence known in healthcare. Today's announcement is somewhat hospital focused but hints at the global company's interest in producing technology solutions that can be used to care for the homebound. Their announcement is titled, "Lenovo Launches Portfolio of Virtual Healthcare Solutions."

Worth the Trip (to the computer in your den)

We will continue to post as many online events as we hear about, both those that were planned and those that were converted from live conferences. One webinar I would particularly appreciate you putting on your calendar is one that my partner Roger McManus and I will be doing for Savii Care. We will be teaching you how to use the power of patient and client reviews to bolster your online visibility and competitive position during difficult times. Registration information will be posted here as soon as it is available.

In the meantime, you might want to take in Ken Accardi's "Tips for Launching Telehealth and Remote Care in Less Than a Week." The Ankota CEO told us the session will cover when to use secure video chat vs secure messaging, how to build "manage by exception" care plans, reviewing notifications and non-compliance in minutes per day, and getting started quickly and affordably. Scroll down to our upcoming events section to register.

Have a healthy week. Keep making a difference!

A Sign of Mother's Love: Easing Her Adult Child's Experience - A Tale of Two Deaths
Death has surrounded all of us for most of this year, more than even healthcare workers have grown accustomed to. It may cause one to consider one's own mortality. Perhaps appropriately for this Mother's Day more than others, guest author Karen Rowan, who is a daughter, step-daughter, granddaughter, mother, sister, and step-sister, draws on personal experience to ask if you, while considering your own mortality, have considered the impact of your departure on those who must close your accounts, find your passwords, and pay your final bills. In other words, is being prepared an act of love?
