Volume 9, Number 23 April  29, 2020

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

We at The Rowan Report hope all our readers are staying well. We are doing our best to help you cope with these crazy times.

For our Private Duty home care readers, we invite your attention this week to our report warning all computer users about the uptick in attempts to invade your network with malware. The hackers assume the virus pandemic may have lowered the healthy level of skepticism you and your staff typically deploy and are sending out roughly ten times as many phishing emails as were detected as recently as two weeks ago. Click below on "Remain Vigilant! COVID-19 Scams Growing."

For Medicare home health: The rest of this week's report centers around changes CMS is making to its plans to help all Medicare providers, including home health agencies, survive through the current crisis. We have published a CMS announcement about suspension of the Accelerated Payment Program and, to help us understand its meaning, we interviewed NAHC president Bill Dombi. Find the CMS announcement below under "Changes Coming to Advance Payments," and our chat with Bill in the report titled "NAHC Steps Up Advocacy as PDGM Collides with COVID."

Scroll down a bit farther to register for one of Thursday's free webinars, one from the NAHC Financial Managers Association titled, "CARES Act Emergency Funds: How to Achieve Accountability and Compliance" and the other sponsored by AlayaCare, titled "Digital Strategies to Survive and Thrive During and After COVID-19."

Editor's note: Many HHAs are looking into outside assistance with billing, coding, and revenue cycle management. Click on our sponsors "HealthRev Partners" and HealthcareFirst to see what they can do for you.

Telehealth for all: In-home care providers, both skilled nursing and personal care, are turning to Remote Patient Monitoring more today than ever. We spoke with one of the leaders in this movement. He has been a telehealth believer even without the pandemic as an incentive. Our interview with Dwight Cenac of Welcome Homecare in Jacksonville walks through his decision-making process and the style of telehealth program his agency has elected to use. For your marketing department: Is your census shrinking? Is competition getting ahead of you? Maybe the problem is not the pandemic but your online visibility. With everyone staying home, people in need of your services will be using Google to find your web site more than ever. Check out marketing consultant Roger McManus' plan for getting your online visibility and reputation strengthened to get your phone ringing. "10 Benefits of Listing Your Home Care Agency Online"
