Volume 10, Number 33 April  21, 2021

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

We are packed with news and other useful features for you this week, so let's get right to it. First, we are pleased to present the next in our monthly video series, "Meet the CEO." This one is special. If you have ever struggled with recruiting and retaining caregivers, please set aside some time to watch my interview with Eric Becker, CEO of MiliMatch. The company is new to home care but has a remarkable track record in other industries, helping employers slash the cost of recruiting and establish an environment where workers want to stay. The company has already broken a record for our publication. You are familiar with the way we count the number of clicks on our articles and post the "most-read" on this page. Well, your interest kept the article in which we introduced MiliMatch in January on our most-read list for 10 weeks! Obviously, the caregiver shortage is high on your list of business challenges.

Hospice News

Staff writer Darcey Trescone summarizes a webinar presented by BKD and Integriti3D on the subject of elevating the knowledge of hospice board members. Hospices with boards that understand the business are more successful. Scroll down and click on "Online Learning Platform Sparks High-Impact Hospice Boards."

Home Care News

Two stories this week will be of interest to private duty home care leaders. One of the things hourly caregivers struggle with is living paycheck to paycheck. We interviewed the CEO and founder of TapCheck, a company that helps with this problem at no cost to the employer. Click below on "New Entry in the Recruit/Retain Struggle."

Nurses may be trained to look for it, but non-medical caregivers need to be aware as well. Sometimes, a client's physical or cognitive condition makes staying in their own home unwise. Guest author Lydia Chan offers a list of signs to look for and steps to take when speaking with a client's family. See "Help Them Stay Home, But Know When It Is Time."

Home Health News

Our friends at Netsmart sent us a sneak preview of their recent webinar, "Strategies to grow your revenue cycle in the world of PDGM," produced jointly with McBee. Moderated by Vice President and McBee Chief Nursing Officer Jeri Ann Kelly, industry experts Karen Tibbs, McBee director of OASIS quality assurance, and Matthew McGowan, McBee advisory consulting manager, the webinar shares strategies for bolstering your revenue cycle under PDGM. The article they authored for us, "Four Must-Know Clinical Practices for Revenue Cycle Success," will give you the gist of it. The link at the end will take you to the webinar.

Vendor News

Lastly, our Vendor Watch column brings news of a new product offering from HHAeXchange. "Partner Connect" is designed to help Medicaid and HCBS providers tap resources from a variety of healthcare partners.
