Volume 11, Number 10 — April 13, 2022
Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,
Our friends at Lincoln Healthcare Leadership are launching a new conference to focus on technology, expanding on the one day devoted to it at their annual Home Care 100 conference. The inaugural event is set for September 6-8 at the Gaylord in National Harbor, Maryland. Unlike Home Care 100, this gathering is not limited to the largest provider agencies, and it will feature an exhibit hall. Click here for registration information.
Speaking of Home Care 100, we seem to have poked a hornet's nest by reporting on comments made from the stage at this year's conference. (See "Shock and Awe at Homecare 100," February 16) One of the many responses to that article was intriguing enough that we asked the writer to expand on the thoughts in his original letter to the editor. The result is this week's lead article, "Don't Blame Payers for Your Self-Inflicted Financial Woes." Our original article has remained on our "Most Read" list for two months. I would be surprised if Michael McGowan's response does not do the same.

Can you imagine a future where women's representation in leadership was equal to men's? Can you imagine a future where any child can see someone that looks like them in positions of influence? A group of women leaders in home care came together informally during that same Home Care 100 conference and asked each other those questions. The outcome was a new advocacy group, made up of a handful of women whose names and faces you are likely to recognize, and they are actively recruiting additional members. Read our interview with ringleader Kristen Duell, EVP at KanTime.
Startups and others with innovative products are consistently expanding HHAeXchange's Partner Connect program. The latest new member is NY Best Medical Care, PC, an accredited private medical practice providing quality care for a wide variety of home care agency needs. We are on the road this year, bringing our message to state and regional conference. Last year's focus in this publication on your staffing challenges gave us insights into a number of new, innovative technologies designed to help you with recruiting, hiring, vetting, training, and retaining your best caregivers. So far, my marketing expert partner Roger McManus and I have been invited to present "Recruit, Interview, Hire, Quit: Make It Stop" at Colorado, May 6; Gulf States Conference, July 19; and New Mexico, November 3. We will let you know as other associations make the wise choice to have us deliver this message to their members.
Though we will not be able to attend, we want to make sure you remember that the Association for Home & Hospice Care of North Carolina is celebrating its 50th Anniversary at its May 1-4 conference at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree. Scroll down this page for the registration details. Congratulations to Tim Rogers and team.
Have a great week. Keep making a difference!
