Volume 9, Number 23 March  27, 2020

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

This special edition of The Rowan Report brings the latest COVID-19 news from tech vendors, the CDC, and CMS. Private duty EMR software company AlayaCare has released a screening tool to be used with both clients and caregivers. Sandata is making several of its patient and caregiver survey tools available for no charge. Kno2 will also offer its patient data exchange tools for free for the duration of the national emergency.

Staff writer Darcey Trescone has been keeping a close eye on regulatory and financial news. She filed several reports for this special edition. To help HHAs and hospices cope with the pandemic, CMS is suspending recertification and revisit surveys until further notice. In a separate report, we detail the delayed deadlines for submitting Medicare cost reports. However, we also discuss why experts urge you to get yours done by the original deadline anyway.

CMS has been regularly updating its Coronavirus web site FAQ page. We found one relevant Q&A in the March 26 version. Use the link in our report to visit the page with the rest of the questions. The same link should work as they update the page.

The CDC has issued PPE guidelines for clinicians. It may be too soon to know how many COVID-19 patients HHAs and home care agencies and hospices will come across but the federal agency strongly recommends they prepare. Click on the headlines below to explore each of these reports.

Look for our regular issue next Wednesday, with reports on electronic document signing services and telehealth systems, from companies offering free services or steep discounts and streamlined implementation schedules to help you care for your patients as safely as possible. We also have a podcast interview with a private duty agency owner who deployed a patient engagement system that has clients and their families overwhelming them with praise and gratitude.

If you are a tech company making special arrangements for your clients during these difficult times, please let us know so we can spread the word.
