SPECIAL REPORT - RANSOMWARE ATTACK CRIPPLES HUNDREDS OF HOME HEALTH AGENCIES AND HOSPICES

When the full story of the November 14 ransomware attack that shut down Casamba and its customers for a period of days, there will be a tendency to think of it as an unfortunate, isolated incident. Perhaps even a reaction along the lines of, "Whew! At least it wasn't me." That would only add to the unfortunateness. For this reason, we have included in this special edition, after our interview with Casamba president Billie Jo Nutter and relevant feedback from customers, a summary of a report by a cyber security expert listing the things most companies do wrong.

The point is this. It could happen to you. One disaster recovery expert was quoted as saying the question surrounding a cyber attack is not if it will happen to your business but when. Having a recovery plan is more important today than having only a hope-based prevention plan.

For this special edition, we relied heavily for our background research on the experts at RBC Limited, specialists in disaster prevention and recovery. If the stories in this issue scare you into action, we will have accomplished our goal. If you do not know where to begin, the professionals at RBC Limited might be a good place to start.
