Volume 8, Number 43 October  2, 2019

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

We found another new scheduling and EMR software system for private pay home care agencies. We met the software developer at last week's HCAOA Leadership meeting. Plamen Ratchev had previously developed software for one of the largest franchise companies and brought that expertise to his new company, SwyftOps. Read about our conversation with him in this week's Vendor Watch column.

Also in VW, we spoke with Wellsky's VP of Applied Insight, Wes Little, about CareInsights, their new data analytics tool that clinicians can use at the point of care to guide care planning and utilization.

Hospice

On the hospice side, guest author Jeremy Powell, CEO of Acclivity Health, offers a 6-point preparation plan for those who apply to participate in CMS's "Primary Care First" model. Applications for the 2020 program will become available in a few weeks.

Private Pay Online Marketing Tips

Have you created a Facebook business page and begun to blog? There are some specific do's and don't's to follow to make sure your effort is effective. Guest author Roger McManus details the don't's this week in "Eight Facebook 'Nevers.'"

CMS News

We try to keep you up to date on announcements of interest to Medicare Home Health Agencies. This week, CMS is sending out letters to HHAs that were determined to be out of compliance with Home Health Quality Reporting Program requirements, which will affect their CY 2020 Annual Payment Update. Those notifications should be in your CASPER folder by now. Also available from CASPER are the latest Provider Preview Reports and the Quality of Patient Care (QoPC) Star Rating Preview Reports. Read our CMS News column for details.

Next week, we will continue our series of interviews with experts about PDGM and how best to prepare.

Worth the trip

I look forward to seeing some of you at this month's NAHC Annual Conference & Expo in Seattle, October 12-14. We will be in Booth #301. With me will be my advertising director, Kristin of The Girard Marketing Group, staff writer Darcey Trescone, and a new consultant, Darren Horrigan.

Darren is helping us modernize The Home Care Technology Buyer's Guide and will be speaking with vendors about updating their listing. I mentioned it last week but will repeat the details here for convenience:

We are in the final stages of updating our free service, The Home Care Technology Buyer's Guide, and we need to hear from you. Home care, home health, and hospice agencies that are in the market use The Guide to identify the most appropriate software companies to receive their RFPs. It is a great way for them to save time and effort and for you to get warm leads while avoiding wasting time with phone calls from people shopping for something you do not offer. However, it only works if every vendor we know of is included in our list, so we include them all.
Here is how The Buyer's Guide works:

Have a great week. Keep making a difference!

Presented by: Savii

Featuring: Tim Rowan, MA and Roger McManus, MBA

Date: June 24
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 EDT

Local businesses used to be able to stand out from the crowd with TV and Yellow Pages ads. Those days are gone. Today, savvy marketers leverage the power of the Internet to make the case that they are the best choice among a throng of competitors. Many home care agencies, however, have not yet learned this lesson. They either ignore this critical tool because they do not understand it, or mistakenly assume that their mostly older clients are not attuned to using the Internet.?Preview: it is their adult child who picks a home care agency for them, not the elderly persons themselves.
