Volume 8, Number 34 September  4, 2019

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

Medicare Home Health

I promote a lot of free webinars here on this page and on my company web site, RowanResources.com. This time, I am inviting Medicare Home Health providers to join me on my own free webinar. On September 11, I will offer a talk titled, "Investing in Technology to Prepare for PDGM." It is sponsored by Swift Medical, a wound care technology company, which is timely because of the role wound care will play in your payments next year. We'll get started at 1:00 pm EDT / 10:00 am PDT. Register now by clicking here.%top4%

Still in the Medicare world, we have been asked to spread the word about two bills making their way through the House and the Senate that could make PDGM a lot less painful. As you know, CMS plans to reduce your payments by 8.01% because it assumes you might take advantage of the PDGM system to get paid as much as you are legally entitled to be paid. The National Association for Home Care and Hospice is pleading with you to join your voice in supporting Senate Bill 433 and House Bill 2573. They will prevent CMS from making rate changes based on assumptions. Click on this link for more information and to join the cause. Use hashtag #AdvocacyInAction when you tell your colleagues about the effort.

One more news item this week for Medicare providers. We publish for you the complete list of cities and dates for PDGM seminars sponsored by Axxess and featuring instruction from consultants from BKD, Swift Medical, and others.%next4%

Non-Medical Home Care

You may have heard about the partnership between Amedisys and ClearCare. We wanted to know why they came together and how such a partnership will help Private Duty agencies. So we spoke with the CEOs of both companies, Paul Kusserow and Geoff Nudd, respectively. Their explanation will be of interest to non-medical in-home care providers, whether they are ClearCare customers or not.

We found a book that impressed us. We think it will impress you too. Registered Nurse and Certified Life Care Planner Jennifer Crowley has put together a guide for seniors and their families to use to plan their healthcare and financial futures and to make wise decisions about where to live. Be sure to read our book review of "Seven Steps to Long-Term Care Planning."%next4%

Worth the Trip

September and October are busy months. We'll do this quickly. We have been invited to attend the first annual "Sage" seminar, sponsored by Honor, September 10 in Redondo Beach, California. Look for me and my partner Roger McManus if you plan to be there.

"Home Care Sales" presents "Growth Summit," Sept. 17-19 in Las Vegas. We'll be there under our Rowan Reputation Resources banner, ready to learn more about selling from Melanie Stover and Cheryl Petelkis.

The Annual Leadership Conference of the Home Care Association of America is set for Sept. 22-23 in Tucson. RRR will have a booth and everyone will be wearing nametag lanyards with our name on them.

Of course, the NAHC Annual Conference and Expo takes place October 13-15 in Seattle. I'll get you our booth number so you can drop by and say hello.

I will also be speaking about interoperability and patient care transitions during the PDGM era for the New Mexico Association for Home and Hospice Care on November 7. More about that next week.%next4%

Have a great week. Keep making a difference!
