Volume 7, Number 41 October  10, 2018

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

As always, this year's NAHC Conference was exhausting and exhilarating. We found some new tech companies on the exhibit floor and heard about big announcements from familiar names. It will take us a couple of weeks to file the full report but this week we focus on remote patient monitoring. What we noticed is not what you might think. Take a look at our lead article, "Telehealth Giants MIA While RPM Startups Make A Splash at NAHC Conference," to see what I mean.

Software vendors will want to pay careful attention to our second article. "Software Company Fined $115 Million" quotes a healthcare attorney as she explains what happened to eClinicalWorks, a physician practice software company. Could it happen here? All they did was ask happy customers to speak kindly of them to prospective customers. If that is your practice, you might want to study this case.

In this week's Vendor Watch column, several well-known vendors have sent us important announcements. Hospice software company Curantis is releasing a Palliative Care version. CareTime announced the acquisition of a hospice software vendor. Private Duty software vendor AxisCare landed another large franchise customer.

I am looking forward to meeting friends and readers next week at the annual conference of the New York State Home Care Providers Association.

Have a great week. Keep making a difference!

Have You Seen These New Technologies?
We thought we had seen it all. We hadn't. This week's HCAOA exhibit hall was an educational experience for us, as they will be for you. These new technologies we found range from patient care to financial management to employee recruitment and retention. We even learned about home remodeling for aging in place.

As of this date, approximately 31,240,000 Baby Boomers have become Medicare eligible.
