Volume 6, Number 45 January  4, 2017

Dear Healthcare at Home Colleague,

Private Duty home care software is the subject of one of our product reviews this week. Once again, however, regulations coming from CMS take the front page. Hospices that provide palliative care services are up in arms over the dilemma in which they find themselves. We explore this problem in detail in our lead story, CMS Creates Catch-22 For Palliative Care Providers.

It does happen but it is rare when home care providers gush about how happy they are with their software vendor. Our review of Rosemark software from Shoshana Technologies may come across as a little one-sided but that is how we heard it so that is how we present it for you. We met Shoshana when they invited us to conduct a webinar for their customers. That webinar about using patient reviews to boost online presence was recorded and is still available from them. rosemarksystem.com

With regulatory compliance becoming the issue that dominates the attention of certified home health providers this year, not to mention that it often threatens your very survival, we are pleased to introduce our newest sponsor. OperaCare is in a different category of technology company. Its software guides clinicians through OASIS assessments in such a way that payment denials, ADRs and ZPIC investigations are virtually eliminated. Every Medicare provider, especially those that have been struggling with documentation accuracy, should click on the ad below and download the free resources they are offering our readers.

Speaking of compliance, be sure to note the next webinar coming from Curaport. Michael McGowan, the former CMS OASIS educator and creator of the OperaCare software, will explain why your claims are denied.

Lastly, I think you will get a kick out of telehealth reporter Audrey Kinsella's description of a new company that puts pet avatars in the homes of elderly patients. Care-Coach is not providing the little toys you have seen advertised on TV. These avatars are guided by trained healthcare advocates from remote locations and customized for each patient.

Have a great week. Keep making a difference!
